Puccini’s penultimate opera is based on David Belasco’s play and set at the height of the notorious Californian gold rush. Here it is performed at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, with Placido Domingo as the bandit Ramirez, and Carol Neblet playing Minnie, The Girl of the Golden West.
