Musical comedy about an aspiring singer, Judy Peabody (Betty Hutton), who performs a good deed for an old homeless man and is suddenly granted all of her heart’s desires. When Judy saves ‘Pop’ Bates (Barry Fitzgerald) from drowning, she thinks nothing of it and goes about her business. Soon after, however, she is surprised to receive a letter telling her she has a luxurious new apartment and a tab at a fashionable department store. When the old man shows up again, she gets him a job at her workplace, The Stork Club. Judy’s greatest dream is to perform onstage at the Club with her soldier boyfriend Danny (Don DeFore), but when Danny returns from war his suspicions are (understandably) aroused by her new wealth and her friendship with Pop. Can Judy win back her man and pursue her dreams at the same time?
